Whangarei's Town Basin marina Upgrade

Whangarei's Town Basin marina is undergoing a major upgrade.
Work done at the marina over the past month has seen 25 old pile berths removed and replaced by a new pontoon that can hold 22 boats.
Marina manager Brian Caulton said the new berths were extra wide. "We lose three berths but we gain a lot bigger and better boats."
With only electrical work remaining to be done on the project, the new pontoon will receive its first boat today... Read The Full Article

Tutukaka Marina Piers to get $1.8m revamp

Fishing tales could be taking a back seat to refurbishment tales at Tutukaka Marina over the next five months. A $1.8 million project to replace and revamp the original piers started last week. Tutukaka Marina Management Trust chairman John Warren says the work will be done on piers A through to E, which were built in 1985.

The wooden structures are now corroding and will be replaced with new concrete floating pontoons. The piers' half-length fingers will be replaced by full-length ones, which will run the length of the boat. Each boat will also have a dedicated power outlet, with the power supplied by a pre-paid smart card. ... Read The Full Article
